sorry - been away from my pc for a while! So.... I am trying to check the logs using Putty. Port 22. Is this right? It just sits there for a minute or two then times out. Incidently I can putty to my ipcop (linux) firewall, so I don't think anything is being blocked. On Cordel's Fedora build - is th...

adding extra disk capacity

Hi everyone - I recently bought a 200GB drive (so cheap it was almost given away) and would like to add it to my zm installation. I can see the additional drive, partition it etc. - but I am not how to EXTEND my existing zm capacity for events. I had a little tinker about but didn;t want to trash my...

ZM not recording properly w/filter?

I wonder if anyone can advise. Running in RECORD mode v1.21.3 FC3. I have standard filter to discard old recordings when it reaches 90%. But the problem is if I click on Events and view the most resent, I can see some recordings are missing: 8:30, 8:20, 8:00, 7:50 ... so far so good... 6:50, 3:20 .....

No one likes good news, but... 1. absolutely standard Fedora install from Corey 2. 7 video cameras - FOUR miscellaneous junky BT cards in my 1.something GHz AMD(one 4pt ebay spesh) and a mix of odd tuner and capture cards. 3. Absolutely no special configurations carried out (wouldn;t know how to any...

ahh ... I read the instructions wrong. I added root as the id and blank as the password in zm.conf!

zm is up. Discounting time lost due to my unbridled enthusiasm, total install time - 30 mins or less!

Thanks!

hi Corey - I added user root (password blank) into zm.conf.

But when I run zminit I get

ERROR (/etc/zm.conf): ZM_DB_PASS should exist and not be empty.

what do I need to do with / what is ZM_DB_PASS?
:)

thx

I dropped in ubuntu CD and started over, and guess what - built in NIC works just fine. So I guess it is some bizarre comination of Bios/Mandrake/Interrupts causing the problem, somehow not affected by the debian ubuntu.... I've read a few posts by folks who've tried ubuntu with great sucess, so wis...

Removed eth0 from madrakelinuxcontrol (my builtin VIA NIC) and disabled it in BIOS.... I just dropped in an ancient 3c5x9 from 1998! It's lights are on, my router is even kindly obliging by changing it's link light from green to yellow (indicating it's at 10Mbps not 100). But still it sits there for...

I've got an old 3com lying around which I'll give a try right now.
(When I tried the realtek yesterday it too had it's link lights on....and mandrake was still reporting "network is down on interface eth0")

BTW isn;t it getting kinda late in dear old birmingham?

hey James - did that, same problem... One thing I did notice was a message that flashed across the screen Bring up interface eth0 [failed] SIOCSFFLAGS Function not implemented I may have spelt it a little wrong - does that help? Also I changed the UTP cable, 4th time! I also plugged it in the back o...
