Frame-rate on KMC4400R

Post by freeman.bg »

Hello.
I have a KMC4400R video board. It is working fine. All the inputs works. But there is a little problem - the framerate. The Board is 100 fps. That mean that there must be at least 6 fps on each input. But it is not. I have 2.25 fps on each input.
Can anyone help me solve this problem?

Ok.
Is there any option to increase frame-rate?
In Dmesg log there is a value named 'latency'. May be there is the key.
"bttv0: Bt878 (rev 17) at 0000:03:0c.0, irq: 193, latency: 64, mmio: 0xf7efe000
bttv0: using: Kodicom 4400R (slave) [card=133,insmod option]
bttv0: gpio: en=00000000, out=00000000 in=00ffffff [init]
bttv0: using tuner=-1
bttv0: i2c: checking for TDA9887 @ 0x86... not found
bttv0: registered device video0
bttv0: registered device vbi0
bttv0: PLL: 28636363 => 35468950 .. ok
"
There is no sense to buy 100fps capture board and to use only 30% from its framerate.
Is there anyone who solved this problem ?

Thanks in advance.

Simple math. Divide ports by chips. Divide 30 by that answer to get the theoretical max frame rate. Now depending on hardware you will loose 1-2 frames in switching. Maxed out hardware may also loose a frame. So if your hardware is not maxed, you will only increase frame rate by getting a different card. Many 4 port in to 1 chip cards max out around 2.5 fps. Some good ones can get up to 4-5, but very few, and not all the time. None will get 6.
