There is a bug in the last daily snapshot from the iconnor repository. Luckily my zones are already set up and I do not need to edit to them. If anybody uses the 0726 daily snapshot from the iconnor repository they will have the same problem. There also appears to be a bug with the new multibuffering options as well though that is not as critical as the non-working zone images. One thing about using master is that we are basically beta testers. lol.

Sorry to hijack but does adding add-apt-repository ppa:jon-severinsson/ffmpeg
fix the ffmpeg issues in Ubuntu 14.04?

It looks like he has been busy over on github, so another snapshot should be forthcoming.

The latest snapshot is now show 1.27.99 and has addressed the zone image issues. It also appears as though the V4L issues with the addition of Multibuffering options per monitor has also been addressed though I have to test further to be 100% sure. One thing is for sure though, the new snapshot is working better than the previous.

Yesterday I installed the latest version (1.27.99+1) and seems that is working fine, except for a RTSP camera, that is hanging after 10 seconds watching live video with an already reported.

After more than 15 years, no longer using ZM as surveillance system.
Now in the dark side, using a commercial system...

All functions seem to be working for me as well. I am not using any RTSP or IP cameras though. My setup consists of an older Intel SE7501BR2 server with hardware RAID with 8 port BT878 cards and 10 monitors at 640x480 in greyscale. It actually functions very well considering the age of the machine. The only issue I see with the current snapshot is the following log message that will show in the log when I view a monitor:
Shared data not initialised by capture daemon, some query functions may not be available or produce invalid results
The monitor is actually viewable and functions as it should so I am not sure why this error message shows up in the log.

Can you that not fix with ''?tcp'' add to your stream url. I have no problems with hanging.

Are you setting a max and min FPS setting for that cam on the ZM side? If so, remove them and try it out. Those options should only be used with locally connected analog cameras.

Are you using libvlc or ffmpeg?

Hi folks,

I too am using ppa:iconnor/zoneminder-master and ppa:jon-severinsson/ffmpeg with kubuntu 14.04 64bit.

I have tested a Foscam FI9826W using VLC Media Player with rtsp://peter:peterpw@192.168.1.30:88/videoMain and it works just fine.

However, when I set it up under ZoneMinder I get the following messages in the log.

Code: Select all

2014-08-18 16:08:00.360730	zmdc	3564	ERR	'zmc -m 6' exited abnormally, exit status 255	zmdc.pl

2014-08-18 16:07:50.067320	zmdc	3564	INF	Starting pending process, zmc -m 6	zmdc.pl
Any ideas, please, on what I can do to try to solve the problem. Thank you.

Peter.

You didn't state your entire camera config, but based on the error I'd say you need to set your source type to "ffmpeg" and not "remote".
Visit my blog for ZoneMinder related projects using the Raspberry Pi, Orange Pi, Odroid, and the ESP8266
All of these can be found at https://zoneminder.blogspot.com/

Thanks, now got a very broken up image, with ffmpeg, very occasional glimpses of a perfect image.

Any ideas how to fix, please. Thanks.

Suggest you start over with this:
Add Repository

apt-get install python-software-properties
add-apt-repository ppa:iconnor/zoneminder-master
apt-get update

Install Zoneminder

apt-get install zoneminder

Note: a couple of package configurations will open up. These are to configure Nullmailer. You can just OK them and come back to configure them later.

Install "extra" VLC components

apt-get install libvlc-dev libvlccore-dev vlc

Add delay to allow MySQL to start before Zoneminder

nano /etc/init.d/zoneminder

Add sleep 15 as shown:

start() {
sleep 15
echo -n "Starting $prog: "

Ctrl+o Enter to save

CTRL+x to exit

Create a directory in apache2

mkdir /etc/apache2/conf.d

Create two symbolic links

ln -s /etc/zm/apache.conf /etc/apache2/conf.d/zoneminder.conf

ln -s /etc/zm/apache.conf /etc/apache2/conf-enabled/zoneminder.conf

CGI is not enabled in Ubuntu 14.04 by default. Enable it this way:

a2enmod cgi

Create a new user

adduser www-data video

Restart Apache

/etc/init.d/apache2 force-reload

or

service apache2 restart

Install Cambozola (needed if you use Internet Explorer)

cd /usr/src && wget http://www.andywilcock.com/code/cambozo ... est.tar.gz

tar -xzvf cambozola-latest.tar.gz

replace 935 with cambozola version downloaded

cp cambozola-0.935/dist/cambozola.jar /usr/share/zoneminder

You should now be able to access the web server using https://servername
