Unless you cut the dmesg short it only shows that the card has four bt878 chips. Your config is set up for eight.
Also what error messages are you getting from zm?
What distro is this on?
What version of ZM are you using?

Can you get video using tvtime or xawtv apps ? If they can't get video from /dev/video0 or 1,2 etc.... you maybe have wrong driver loaded or something else not ZM is keeping the video not working.

It's supposed to be a 16 channel
It has 4 chips on it and came with 4 bnc on the back plane
and 3 add on (each with 4 bnc).

For testing, I am only trying on port, and its on the main board plane.

Zone Minder Version 1.21.3

Yes, it was abbreviated on dmesg

Your best start is as electron had sugested. check and see if you can get video in xawetv or tvtime first. With four chips you should only need four sets of card id's for 77 in your modprobe config. This is a cheat as ideally there should only be one card number for each card.
Also are there any errors in the zm logs?

Are there any errors in your zmdc.log, or zmpkg.log?

Okay, your second dmesg post shows that the card is not getting the insmod options. Try removing that last comma.
Also be aware that I don't know if that card number will work with your card.

Try clearing up your insmod option first so that it takes.
Your best bet is if you don't know what options you need to set, install with X and xawe or tvtime and get the card functional first. Then you can remove them or set to run level 3 after you know you have the card functioning.

I don't know that I fully understand
"insmod option". need a little guidance.

The computer is in a remote location so hard to do until the weekend for x.

I'll try w3cam/vidcat.

In modprobe.conf
options bttv card=77,77,77,77 tuner=4

That is an insmod option. You have an extra comma in what you posted above so you might want to check it.

Ok, I tested outside of ZM and got blue screens on both.
Just made the change to the modprobe.conf.
The extra comma came from my earlier delete of the extra 77.
Have rebooted will try again in just a few.

Still no video from the board.

Using vidcat (w3cam) and scanning all /dev/video devices on inputs tv, comp1, comp2 to validate/compare to zm

All I get is the blue screens on 0-3
I do still get the input signal from the USB camera on video4

#/bin/sh
for INPUT in tv comp1 comp2
do
for COUNT in 0 1 2 3 4
do
echo "Working on $INPUT on Device $COUNT"
/tempweb/w3cam-0.7.2/vidcat -p c -d /dev/video$COUNT -f jpeg -i $INPUT -n ntsc -o /tempweb/w3cam-0.7.2/test$COUNT.$INPUT.jpg -q 100 -s 640x480
done
done

YEILDS the following:
(the 5k files are blue screens,
the 24k files are from the USB cam)

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 5432 Oct 25 21:30 test0.comp1.jpg
