Currently looks as though even linux doesn't have a kernel driver for GigE and USB 3 Vision cameras which is a standard used by a lot of advanced industrial cameras. At least to my understanding it has to be compiled or someone's binary blob needs to be used from linux to interface with these.
There is a project on github to be able to interface with these cameras from linux here:

Would like to see if compatibility with these industrial cameras could be added in a future release for zoneminder.
Some of these are quite advanced cameras and not being able to communicate across the standards they operate on makes them incompatible currently.
