Kernel problems with AMD K6/2 processor

Post by ekiboy69 »

Hi,

Call me mad if you want to but I still would like to use ZM with one camera attached to it.

I am succesfully running LiveCD 1.19.1 installed in a machine based on Gigabyte 7VTXE mobo and AMD Duron 1.0.

I would like to give it a try in another machine: Asus P5A mobo and AMD K6/2 333 Mhz processor (not overclocked).

I am not able run the installation. Curious problems occur: after X-windows is started, pressing a key while typing in a shell window on the keyboard produces occasionally 2 or even 3 characters. When pinging a machine, things seem to happen at "double speed".

I have tried with 3 different graphics cards - end result is somewhat the same.

Coud it be that the kernel on the live cd is so "Intelized" that it does not run on a K6/2 at all?

At the moment I am not able to get a prompt so I could tell you what dmesg says. I'll try with another graphics card to get a promt after the boot sequence so i can check through the dmesg information.

Cheerio,
