md5 problem

I still cant get through this:
checking whether MD5 is declared... no
configure: error: zm requires openssl/md5.h

I am runing on
uname -a
Linux localhost.localdomain 2.6.15-1.2054_FC5 #1 SMP Tue Mar 14 15:48:20 EST 2006 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

can some one help me?
