Record audio only

I would like to just record the audio of some live streams, no video. It will be a 24/7 live audio recorder. I have searched online and I can't find anything that will work, except by using a dvr software and modifying it to ignore video. Has anyone tried this? Thoughts?

I've not actually tried it, but it appears to be trivial with ZM given the device's stream address, and doing as you suggest in the storage section.

Well, I tried it, and as the warning notes, it doesn't work.
Bummer.
Maybe vlc could decode and send audio-only out. I'm no vlc expert though...

I'll work on this in 1.35/1.36.

It has been on my todo list, to add a second url to get the audio from. While I am doing that I will make it possible to not have a video stream. Not sure what ramifications there might be, but logically it should be easy.

Isaac, is that to-do list online somewhere?

You could consider the github issues list the todo list... but it's not maintained very well.

My personal todo list involves many other projects and changes depending on funding/emergencies/needs etc.

Bear in mind in uk audio is a huge issue, recording especially, there are few good usage cases for it

Curious about that jameswilson.
In this case, the audio can already be recorded with the video; does separating audio from video make the audio more of a problem?
