Event Duration

Post by stevewrightnz1 »

Hi Guy's

I have an issue with recording events. It seems that the event length is limited to about nine seconds no matter what is happening in the camera feed?

Anyone got any ideas what might be happening?

I'm running 1.34.1 on FC31 and I received a 46-second event, so it's not a limit per-se.

However I *AM* having issues with event duration in that events end even when there is still movement in the frame.

Are you recording jpeg's or mp4 video?

I've noticed the same. The detection is really weird. All events start either in the middle of motion or stop right in motion. Most events are 8 secs here as well. The red area below (seek area) also doesn't reflect the real motion. I've tested 'default' and 'best - high sens' so far with 6.25% blending. My 'Buffers' settings are 51, 12, 12, 25, 0, 1. Stream is h264 pass-through (fullhd, 25fps). No JPGs.

Currently testing 'fast - high sens' on 12% with date/time area excluded.
Edit: Doesn't seem to have any major effect. Start/stop times are still buggy. Motion detection is not working reliably.

I am recording H264 passthrough at ~5fps from the cameras with an ImageBuffer of 40 and 6.25% blend and 6.25% alarm. I suspect that for my 1080p indoor cameras I might need to reduce at least the second if not the first as well. For example, a couple events tonight caught my wife going into a room and coming back out, but then she "stood still" and was fumbling with my daughter's backback.. and then she started walking again. The walking triggered the alarm, so the "second" event took over from her fumbling. But there was still "motion" of her fumbling; just not a LOT of motion. So I got two events where, arguably, there should have only been one.

My buffer settings are 40, 0, 20, 25, 0, 1. (does the warmup frames count make a difference? I just used the default there).

This is the solution for the 8 seconds bug. Just lower it.

My MinSectionLength is set to "10" (seconds, I presume), but I still see events shorter than that?

Yes, but did you ever get below 7 seconds or did you ever have had a 1 second clip?
I'm not sure if the buffers settings are involved here as well but if you lower MinSectionlength you clearly get shorter clips.

Over 16k events, I definitely have a few 2-second events, lots of 3-second events, etc. Of those 16k events, about 200 of them are less than 8 seconds long.
