Upgrade experience

Post by stevewrightnz1 »

Hi Guy's

A quick note on my upgrade experience.

I got the following errors when upgrading from 1.32 to 1.34 on Ubuntu 18.04, 5 cameras.

Code: Select all

Unsafe symlinks encountered in /var/tmp/zm, refusing.
Unsafe symlinks encountered in /var/cache/zoneminder/cache, refusing.
Seems they were required because there was an issue recognizing the 1.32 events and the cameras behaved oddly - a single alarm frame was repeatedly recorded on all cameras and deleted within 5 minutes, I'm guessing because the disc was full up and the purgewhenfull filter could no longer find the events from the previous version - result of broken symlink?

Rather than try to fix the particular issue I ended up completely uninstalling and reinstalling ZoneMinder in its entirety, including wiping out all the stored events, which fixed the problems.

It might be useful if the update process set all cameras to Monitor too, mine were set to Record by the process for some reason which quickly started filling up the rest of the disk space.

Keep up the good work!

Steve
