Cannot View Events

Post by DGreenshields »

Hello,

Apologies if this has been done to death in other iterations but I'm struggling here...

I cannot view any recorded events and I get the following in the web_js.log when I load those pages.

01/27/20 14:09:35.830376 web_js[1665].ERR [192.168.5.114] [getCmdResponse stream error: socket_sendto( /var/run/zm/zms-926319s.sock ) failed: Connection refused - checkStreamForErrors()] at ?view=event line
01/27/20 14:16:16.424382 web_js[1573].ERR [192.168.5.114] [getCmdResponse stream error: socket_sendto( /var/run/zm/zms-154253s.sock ) failed: Connection refused - checkStreamForErrors()] at ?view=event line

I have seen other older posts suggesting this is related to my apache config but I've not touched anything since install, I've simply rebooted and found the system not responding as it was prior to the reboot.

This is on a clean Debian 10 install using the buster-1.34 repo.

Regards,

Duncan.

What instructions did you use to install Zoneminder?
What hardware?
What web browser do you use?

1) The Debian ones from the wiki.(https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Debian_10_B ... om_ZM_Repo)
2) A Gateway Core 2 Duo E4500, old box that was lying around which I stuck 4Gb of RAM in.
3) Chrome mostly but fails in Edge too.

Have not had any reported issues with that install procedure. I am currently running ZM 1.34.0 on a Pi 3b+ with NGINX but have tested the Apache2 version on the Pi and an i3 dual core with 8 GB RAM. Your 4 GB should be OK for a couple of cameras. Make sure you set your timezone in Options/System. Recommend using Firefox as both Edge and Chrome do not do streaming very well. Your errors are similar to what we use to see in ZM 1.30.4 while viewing Montage for a long time.
You could be having issues with the temp folder. I have used /dev/shm as a ZM Swap area. To set this:
nano /etc/zm/conf.d/01-system-paths.conf
change ZM_PATH_SWAP=/dev/shm
and restart Zoneminder

Just set up my test PC with Buster AMD 64, Apache2 and Mariadb. Ran the install procedure from the WIKI/zmrepo. Set up two IP cams with ffmpeg, disabled jpegs and enabled x264 video. Can record, view monitors and view events (mp4 video).

On first install everything worked fine. This is my frustration. I shutdown, shifted the box into the loft and powered up.
