OPT_USE_AUTH and Streaming

I have setup zoneminder using this guide https://zoneminder.readthedocs.io/en/1. ... buntu.html onto a virgin Ubuntu 18.4 VM.
I have added a user and a Camera and streaming works OK.
If I enable OPT_USE_AUTH it breaks streaming and I get a "Socket /var/run/zm/zms-515917s.sock does not exist." error.
I have read the link in the error but it doest seem to apply to my case. (or I am misunderstanding!)
Any thoughts?

You would be better off to use Zoneminder 1.34.x. Use these instructions as the one you used is out of date.
