Cannot replay videos

Background info:
running in a jail on Freenas 11.2(u8), installed as a plugin last weekend (5days ago). I am running 1.32.3
After loading ZM and adding 5 IP cameras in mocord mode, I was able to see the live camera images and abd the console started showing events. For several hours, I was able to see the events and watch the videos. The system is still capturing events but I can only watch the events that occurred during the first few hours of operation. All other videos show a black screen with a grey X in the center. The bottom of the screen says, "the video could not be loaded, either because the server or network failed or because the format is not supported."

Any ideas on how to diagnose this? I have lots of mp4 files showing up in /var/db/zoneminder/events/ folder.
I truly appreciate any help or pointers you could offer.
