How to Change storage

Post by fittyfu »

Hello,
I installed zoneminder 1.32.3 on Raspberry Pi 4B running Raspbian Buster (based on Debian Buster).
I added an external USB HDD drive ( USB 3.0 mSATA ) and want zoneminder to store to this drive.
Unfortunately the Zoneminder WIKI at https://zoneminder.readthedocs.io/en/1. ... nents.html is lacking of this Option description ( Option - Storage).
I found some info within Install Guide at https://zoneminder.readthedocs.io/en/1. ... drive.html.
I followed These instructions:
  • mounted HDD to /media/camstore
  • added dirctories /media/camstore/events and /media/camstore/Images
  • changed the user for this directories to the webserver user (WWW-data)
  • created .conf file /etc/zm/conf.d/externalHDD.conf with following content:
    ZM_DIR_EVENTS=/media/camstore/events
    ZM_DIR_IMAGES=/media/camstore/images

My Question is: is that really all I Need to do?

I could'nt believe that, because after restarting zoneminder Server (reboot),
there was no additional storage entry at Zoneminder web gui under Options:Storage.
Therefore I manually added the new Directory:
zm_option_storage.PNG
zm_option_storage.PNG (16.17 KiB) Viewed 1192 times
Should have the new storage Directory been added automatically to the web gui (Options:storage)?
Can I delete the Default Directory ( /var/cache/zoneminder/Events ) ?
Is there anything else I Need to do?
