ZM crashes, keeps restarting, libc-2.27.so

Hello,

I have a gentoo installation of zoneminder that was working fine, but then I upgraded gentoo (emerge sync then update), and now zoneminder
just keeps crashing and not starting. In the beginning, I was having libmysql issues, but I ran zmupdate.pl. This did not fully fix the issue. There was a problem with a tables name mismatch, and I fixed that with:

  alter Table `Monitors` change column `AnalysisFPSLimit` `AnalysisFPS` decimal(2,2);
After that, it just complains that there is a libc error, and it is not logging to the zm long, only to /var/log/messages.

The sever in question is running the lateste gentoo release, 4.14.52-gentoo #3 SMP Thu Jul 19 20:41:47 CDT 2018 x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4570S CPU @ 2.90GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

I am not sure where to go to look for more debugging.
