All sorts of errors, log state constantly Alarm

I've finally got zoneminder running pretty solidly on my ubuntu server, but I've been noticing a lot of glitches, like viewing events sometimes freezes, I can't export the log, etc. I installed using the basic instructions provided on zms site.
Here are images of the logs (because I can't export them and would rather not deal with copying and pasting them into word or excel. The first two images are the most recent log entries showing all the problems I encountered while trying to review 179 events from today (trying to get Modect working right). The third is just a repeating series of the same entries with a warning; it did that all night and continues to do so now.
Is something wrong with my installation? Does the repetitive warning effect ZMs modect abilities? It appears to me that about every four minutes, capture and analysis stop working for a period.
