not recording events

I'm running zoneminder 1.30 on centos 6, I have three cameras set up in zm, all green in the gui and they work fine when I click on the cam but zm is not recording any events. Everything is at 0 and I know there has been movement on the cams.
I ran

# mysqlcheck -c -u root --all-databases --auto-repair -p

and all was ok. The disk is not full. If I go to /var/lib/zoneminder/events there are tons of jpg's in the sub folders so zm is recording but not showing any events in the gui. Can anybody help with this please?
