I am trying to use a system with 2gig of RAM to record (in raw mp4, no conversion, no motion detection) from 5 cameras(3MP @5fps). It works fine for 1 camera, but when I add another one, the memory is not enough as it seems to be using about half a gig per cam.
Is there a way to limit the RAM usage per camera (e.g. to 100 meg)? I just want to capture the entire raw stream without any modifications.
thanks

Re: Minimize RAM usage?
you have to reduce fps, resolution and buffer size.
2GB is too low.

Re: Minimize RAM usage?
I don't understand why ZM needs so much RAM just to dump raw stream to the local storage?????
500 meg of ram would hold 4 minutes of 1080p @5fps video ...

Re: Minimize RAM usage?
Edit your buffer settings. You are probably telling it to allocate 50 buffer frames, when you probably can get by with less than 5.

Re: Minimize RAM usage?
you have to consider os overhead in the calculations.
Re: Minimize RAM usage?
With 2 gig RAM tmpfs uses 1 gig with the other 1 for the os and MySQL. Hi res cameras will use up the tmpfs real quick!
