Ubuntu Server, crashing

Post by ECE »

Latest Ubuntu Server. Few years old good laptop, Thinkpad, i7, 8 GB, 512 SSD (2 years old, was working with Windows brilliantly). I have only Zomeminder installed. And mysql and webserver and what else Zoneminder wanted to install.

But this stops responding randomly. Sometimes runs over a week and sometimes barely 24 hours. Can't connect over network nor locally, screen is black. I have only two network cameras running with modect.

I would do a cron job for rebooting but the disc is crypted.

Any hints?

What Linux version? What resolution are you using on your cameras? When it is running how much free memory/tmpfs do you have? What file system are you running on the SSD? How much free drive space do you have (the 95% purge filter may need to be set to 90%)?

I am running 17 cameras on 8 GIG RAM but have the resolution and frame rate turned down.

And both cameras are 32 bit colour, 1920x1080. Haven't checked yet how these cameras works with lower resolutions. I suspect that the sensor of these cameras are actually lower resolutions and this produced resolution might be interpolated.
