API documentation

Hi

I am look to start coding a new cross platform mobile client for Zoneminder.
But I have not found any API documentation. Just a short reference that there is an XML "skin", but no doc on that XML API either.

Are there any resources for this, or is it just rev. engineering or code review that has to be done?
