I tried searching for this, but turns out "install script error" are all banned search words (too common). So apologies if this has been covered, it's literally impossible for me to dig out of the forum.
SOOOOooo, tried to upgrade using kubuntu's package manager, and am getting this message:
Package: /var/cache/apt/archives/zoneminder_1.27.0-precise-1_amd64.deb
Error: subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1
Where can I go to find more info on exactly what the problem was, so I can debug it more?
(kubuntu 12.04.02 , with the iconnor PPA for zoneminder.)
Thanks!

Re: Upgrade to 1.27 pre-install script error 1
Check the syslog but my first guess would be a password on mysql being different than what the script expected...just guessing though. You should find something interesting in /var/log/syslog or perhaps the logs in /var/log/apt/.
Re: Upgrade to 1.27 pre-install script error 1
/var/log/apt was a winner, thanks for the point in the right direction!
(I still have symlinks, never got around to "properly" mounting where I want my recordings to go. Going to do un-do the links, mount the FS where the default links point to, and hopefully the upgrade will go swimmingly!)
