I am having problems with a new install of ZoneMinder where events are being missed, indeed it only seems to be recording a handful of the events it should be recording. People entering a building but never coming out etc.
Looking at the logs I am getting 'zmc -m 1' crashed, signal 8
I have made the changes as described on akemapa's blog which has stopped corruption of the image while viewing but still events are being missed.
I thought that this was due to the PC I was running the server on (old Pentium 4, 3Gb RAM) as it was throttling the CPU at 95-100%, so i have installed on a relatively good laptop and while the CPU issue is now not a problem I am still missing events.

Ubuntu Server 12.03
Zoneminder 1.27
I know these events can be caught as I have setup ISpy and that records them fine
I am clearly missing something, any help would be great
