new install of 1.26.5 not working

So after quite some time trying to get this working on Fedora 20, I bailed on it and tried Ubuntu. The most recent doc lists it for 12.10, but that's long outdated. I downloaded 14.04 LTS, and the docs for 12.10 seemed to work fine.

However, I can't view any of my cams. When I select any of them (or try with cycle or montage) I just get an empty window. No error message or red X showing a broken link. When I close the window I get an error message in the event logs saying:

"socket_sendto( /tmp/zm/zms-XXXXXXs.sock ) failed: No such file or directory"

What might be wrong?

Did you follow this procedure?

Likely you need to enable the CGI in Apache

Bingo! That was it. Yes, I followed that procedure, but must have missed that step.

It's working great now, thanks.

I had a similar problem even though I enabled cgi-bin. How essential are the resolv.conf and ntp changes steps? I skipped the resolv.conf one because I'm setting up ZM in a docker container, where a reboot doesn't work. I skipped the ntp change for now since my clock seems fine.

Edit: I should mention that I'm using cameras on my LAN, I can stream from them using rtsp to VLC on another computer, and I can ping them from my ZM docker container.
