h264 support and space limintations

hi.
i'm trying to setup zoneminder server for ip cameras (sony).
i have to setup around 360 ip cameras; so one of the most important things is space limitations. i decided to use h264 format to reduce size of video streams by using h264 streams but i couldn't ... .
this is the format i use http:/user:pass@x.x.x.x/h264 (got this video link in mplayer).
as far as i know zoneminder stores images so does it support h264 format (or even other formats like mpeg) ?

Are you using FFMpeg as the source? If not give it a try
