Control of PTZ IP camera with authentication

I have a generic IP camera that I am trying to support with authentication. I start with this script: http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.ph ... R4020A2_PT
However the problem is the authentication. I always get a 401 unauthorized in the zoneminder log. I can access the camera URL and control it manually.
How can I add the authentication to zoneminder?
