A few question on Zoneminder

Post by allausk »

I am new to zoneminder. I have successfully installed 1.25 on CentOS 6.2 and tested with a HIKVision MiniDome Camera. ZM get video stream, using ffmpeg source, from this camera with rtsp with the user name and password embedded into the URL. However, I have the following problems:

1) The motion detection never works. When I set the function to Modect it would not start recording when there is motion. I tested it by walking and jumping in front of the camera. I have tried a few settings from the motion detect zone set up but still the same. However, it will randomly record 1 or 2 seconds of video throughout the day.

2) When I set it to record, it did record but if there was motions, like I walked in front of the camera, the motion is ghostly. That means the motion parts of previous frame(s) is overlayed. I guess there must be a setting to control this.

3) Where can I enable the outlining of the object in motion?

Thanks in advance if anyone can shed some light on these issues!

1) Try adjusting using one of the presets in the zone settings.

2) No idea. May be an ffmpeg / MPEG4 issue. Can you try with a jpg or mjpeg feed?

3) Web console: Options, Config: CREATE_ANALYSIS_IMAGES = Ticked

Thanks for the reply. I suspect ffmpeg too but do not know how to fix it. :(
