Newbie - external trigger & Asterisk question?

Post by padams »

Hi,

Aside from the regular CCTV aspect, I need to trigger an alarm from an outside source. We have a "Perimeter Fence" detection system. It has 2 outputs (one normally closed, one normally open).

What's the best way to get ZoneMinder to receive those triggers & respond? I was thinking something like the parallel port wired to it so it can detect an open or closed circuit?

I am familier with Asterisk. Does anyone have advice on getting ZoneMinder & Asterisk to work together?

I have a separate Asterisk server already. Maybe Zoneminder can produce a text file to indicate an alarm? That way, the presence or contents of that text file can trigger Asterisk to start placing phones call to alert people.

Thanks for any advice, pointers, blogs, etc...

Regards

Take a look at 'NoDect' mode for a monitor (http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.ph ... onitor_Tab). The wiki has information on triggering manually.

Thank you.

That lead to zmtrigger.pl - which lead to reading about using the Arduino for external events - which then lead to reading about custom scripts for firing off Asterisk.

I'm off to buy an Ardunio...
