Shared memory and decompresser

Post by kingofkya »

Whats going on zone minded is spiting this out every 6 or so seconds

Apr 13 17:27:28 homeserver kernel: [17261164.720000] drivers/media/video/ov511/ov511.c: No decompressor available

also another log says this

Apr 13 07:37:03 homeserver zmwatch[8719]: INF [Restarting capture daemon for LegoCam, shared memory not valid]

i didn't change the shred memory key and the cameras are Linux compatible because they work with other software

This is not zoneminder but the kernel driver for your cam (ov511).

This usualy means that ZM was unable to capture an image from the device so hence nothing is in shared memory.

I'd STFW for " ov511.c: No decompressor available " Google turns up about 9 pages.

I don't use usb cams so I don't know what options are available for that driver.

from http://alpha.dyndns.org/ov511/faq.html
Q: I get "Function not implemented" errors when I run my program, and the kernel complains about "No decompressor available".
A:

* With 1.xx drivers: you need to load the ov511_decomp or ov518_decomp module.
* With 2.xx drivers: make sure that a different driver isn't also loaded (such as ov51x, ov511-1.xx, or the driver that comes with the kernel).
that's 6th link from top if googling TFW for "ov511 No decompressor available"
if common sense is so uncommon, why is it called common then?
