3 X Usb webcams - is too much ?

Post by phaksp »

it's looks like i have problems with usb. 1 of my webcam keeps getting busy. but get's back online when the usb plug is reconnected.

There is an usb extender on one of those usb cam.

What is the max distance for usb extender ?

How can i extend an usb cable over 10 m ?

Any solution / idea ?

i used an amplified extender, it's seems to be ok. But the other one hasn't got any amplifier.

So bad that there is restrictions for usb lengt ... sucks...

regards

usb isnt much good over anyting other than short distances, plus i think you need to dedicate a port per cam (no hubs etc) for it to be reliable, your better of using ip or coax cams

You can use more than one camera per bus, but you will probably need to instruct your driver how manay cameras share the interface.
