It is a hardware compression card. It will not work with ZoneMinder, and I doubt you will find a Linux driver.

Amazingly, I have one too from Anko bought in good faith that there was a Linux driver and application software and am trying to get it up on Fedora 8.
Undaunted (motivated by embarrassment), I managed to find some source code for the drivers and it compiled just fine but fails on loading. Given the lack of further software I'm not sure what I would have done even if it did work.

FYI the card is made by Hikvision and the download is at http://www.hikvision.com/en_service_view2.aspx?id=100#
and there's a list of other downloads here http://www.hikvision.com/en_Service_lis ... classid=81 You see a DVR demo download for linux with a extremely techie user guide but I think the actual working client app is demo quality at best.
You might want to use IE as my version of Firefox does not load this site correctly.
I emailed their support dept. in Hangzhou, a few weeks ago and had no reply,so I've emailed the USA office. Shame, as it's a really nicely spec'd card. I'll keep you updated via this thread if things change.

lspci sees the card as two TI's TMS320DM642 DSPs, strange as I don't see those chips on the board.

Hope this helps (doubt it does)

I know this is a really old post, but anyway:

I think the ds-4008hci card is really manufactured by Anko Tech... they have a dvr software for the card. it's so hard to tell in the "Wild East" its kind of like the West was in the United States during the goldrush... everyone trying to make a buck... it might be sold as a ids-4008hci (note the I at the beginning) and might be branded as Gen IV Technology (Generation IV Tech) or hikvision. I think a lot of these cards are like this.

I realize this is an old thread but I'm looking at getting one of these cards and the manufacturer says it works with Fedora 8. Any ideas? Thanks.

Main site: http://www.hikvision-usa.com/downloads.html

Just because a Linux driver *might* be available doesn't mean squat. It has to be Video4Linux 2 complaint AND produced uncompressed streams or MJPEG streams.
