That not true, Gentoo admins retire zoneminder package at the end of 1.24 period (bug and compilation adaptation problems never resolved)

but today, zm V1.25.0 SVN compile perfectly on gentoo with ./configure, make,make install ....

Ok but not official gentoo ...
