Hauppage! ImpactVCB card, AVC 667L colour camera.

Post by peterthevicar »

I use a Hauppage! ImpactVCB 4 input PCI tv card. In fact I think it only supports 3 inputs and I actually only managed to get Composite 1 working. It runs with the bttv module for Debian Sid on a 2.6.3 kernel.

Here’s a quote from elsewhere in the ZM forums which talks about the Impact VCB inputs and their mapping to Video for Linux devices. It looks as though channel 0 should be easily usable via the middle phono connector:
:: O O O (ports :: is the s-video O is composite)
2 1 0 NC (inputs (ZM "channels")) channel 3 is the luminance signal of channel 2.
3 (2 in black and white only)
with awtv (note that without an S-Video connector you can only use Television or Composite 1):
"Television" is the middle composite port
"Composite 1" is the input port closest to the S-Video port (1)
"S-Video" is the S-Video port (2)
"Composite 2" is the luminance channel of the S-Video port (3)

The third composite port seems to be unreadable.

Presumably if you used a cable which allowed you to feed a composite
input (luminance plus chrominance signal) into the luminance channel
of the S-Video port, "Composite 2" would show this signal in color.

Effectively this is a 3 input card.
Camera: An AVC 667L outdoor, zero lux, colour camera. It can be bought from www.henrys.co.uk for about £115 including power supply and 16m cables.

All works well with ZM 1.19.1 :D

Thanks Phil.
