Hi,

If you explain us a little bit more (which hardware you are using, the Linux distro, etc), will help us to help you. I will try selecting VLC instead of ffmpeg...

Hope it helps,

I am trying to get the same camera working with zm v1.28.1 on RHEL 7.

I've tried the settings recommended https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Trendnet#TV-IP320PI but that does not give me an image.

If I give it a username and password (with http and rtsp auth enabled on the camera) I get failed logins. With no auth configured on the camera I get

Unable to open input http://192.168.0.91/streaming/Channels/1 due to: Operation now in progress

I've tried a lot of other combinations as well (http/url, etc) but can't find the right combination. Pointers?

In your monitor setup, try ffmpeg as source type and RTP/RTSP as Remote method.

I tried that per the wiki, but I'll reset and have another run at it. Also try the iSpy reference. Thanks..

I reset the camera and set a different (simpler) password.
Source type set to ffmpeg and source path set to rtsp://admin:changeme@192.168.0.91:554//Streaming/Channels/2 per the iSpy reference. (I've also tried 0 and 1 as the channel number).

Still getting this in the logs

"Unable to open input rtsp://admin:changeme@192.168.0.91:554//Streaming/Channels/2 due to: Permission denied"

Other suggestions? I have the latest firmware. (V5.1.7 build 141111) per the trendnet.com website.

Hi,

Have you tried to view the streaming from a windows/linux machine? I suggest you to copy the network path to the VideoLan player (for instance) and check if you could see it. I do not remember if you already done that. If you could see it, then seems a permission problem.

I will check the permissions on my system and let you know,

Well, I was _this_ close to saying it wouldn't work at all. But it works with

cvlc rtsp://admin:changeme@192.168.0.91:554/Streaming/Channels/2

With the source path copied right from the monitor definition on Zoneminder. So the source path is correct and the camera functions with Linux.

Apparently I'm missing something on my ZM setup?
I've switched my host OS to Fedora 22
I installed Zoneminder from the zmrepo for Fedora 22.
The only thing I touched in zm.conf was the database authentication stuff.

I ran the cvlc command (above) from the zoneminder host that is not working correctly with the monitor, which would seem to eliminate missing libraries, etc.

to recap
Source type set to ffmpeg
Source path set to rtsp://admin:changeme@192.168.0.91:554/Streaming/Channels/2
Remote method set to rtp/rtsp

Log shows
Unable to open input rtsp://admin:changeme@192.168.0.91:554/Streaming/Channels/2 due to: Permission denied
and occassionally
socket_bind( /var/lib/zoneminder/sock/zms-432499w.sock ) failed: Permission denied

Host OS is Fedora 22, 64 bit, selinux set to permissive mode.

Just noticed this in /var/log/messages
Nov 13 20:54:33 zmfed zmc_m1[4364]: INF [Monitor-1: 260000 - Capturing at inf fps]
Nov 13 20:54:34 zmfed zmc_m1[4364]: INF [Monitor-1: 261000 - Capturing at 1000.00 fps]

Where do I look next??

Have a go with source type remote also, and then start cranking up debug levels on zmc to see if you get any more information. It must be doing something that ffmpeg doesn't handle

Tried remote and libvlc as well and generated various other errors. I've gone back to ffmpeg and turned up the logging.

/var/log/zoneminder/zmc_mc1.log has lots of these sets

11/16/15 06:30:09.586949 zmc_m1[26426].ERR-/builddir/build/BUILD/ZoneMinder-1.28.1/src/zm_ffmpeg_camera.cpp/161 [Unable to read packet from stream 0: error -541478725 "End of file".]

/var/log/zoneminder/zmdc.log has
11/15/2015 21:04:16.846608 zmdc[15716].INF ['zmc -m 1' starting at 15/11/15 21:04:16, pid = 26426]
11/15/2015 21:04:16.851236 zmdc[26426].INF ['zmc -m 1' started at 15/11/15 21:04:16]

11/15/2015 21:04:17.328353 zmdc[15716].WAR [Can't find process with command of 'zma -m 1']

The date is from the last time I saved the monitor definition.

This is the current state
[root@zmfed zoneminder]# ps -ef | grep zm
root 4708 26154 0 06:38 pts/0 00:00:00 grep --color=auto zm
apache 15716 1 0 Nov14 ? 00:01:32 /usr/bin/perl -wT /usr/bin/zmdc.pl startup
apache 15751 15716 0 Nov14 ? 00:00:08 /usr/bin/perl -wT /usr/bin/zmfilter.pl
apache 15761 15716 0 Nov14 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/perl -wT /usr/bin/zmaudit.pl -c
apache 15771 15716 0 Nov14 ? 00:00:09 /usr/bin/perl -wT /usr/bin/zmwatch.pl
apache 26426 15716 0 Nov15 ? 00:01:34 /usr/bin/zmc -m 1

Just to verify that everything still works, I tried it with vlc again (cutting and pasting the path from my monitor definition) and it worked flawlessly.

All I have got left is to try with ffplay instead of vlc, that is the same libraries as the monitor type you are using. If that works them I am out of ideas.

I do wonder if there is a way to capture and restream cameras to help debug these issues. Maybe some clues here https://trac.ffmpeg.org/ticket/3823

well, unfortunately
ffplay rtsp://admin:changeme@192.168.0.91:554/Streaming/Channels/2
works fine (default is grey scale, but I assume that's just some option I need to find)

does the camera open a port on the zm machine? I noticed a change in behaviour when I dropped iptables on the zm host...

Just have been having some fun getting a TV-IP310PI working and have updated the Wiki with the combination of settings that gave me a useable feed to Zoneminder.

These are the settings that worked for me, and may be useful for you. my Zoneminder box is Centos 6, Zoneminder 1.28.1 :

Code: Select all

Remote Protocol: ffmpeg
Maximum FPS and Alam Maximum FPS : Set to match the FPS value set in the camera GUI
Source path: rtsp://user:pass@<camera ip address>/streaming/Channels/1
Remote Method : RTP/RTSP ( ZM 1.28.1 )
I've updated the Wiki as well with these details
