Veo Observer IP NetCam

Post by robi »

Confirming that it works like a charm:

Image
Veo Observer IP NetCam
Firmware version: 1.8.58.VE

The URL of the picture is
http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/Jpeg/CamImg.jpg

Getting framerates of more than 30fps at 352*288!

How can this be added to the camera profiles?

Supported resolutions: 176*144, 352*288, 320*240, 640*480, 160*120 (and probably 128*96, 704*576, 1280*960, 1280*1024, but didn't test these)

I also found that it may be similar with Orite IP-Cam IC-301

I was able to flash my Veo Observer IP NetCam with firmware from Orite IP-Cam IC-301. Download from here.

It looks newer, as the Veo's firmware version: 1.8.58.VE is Last F/W update: SEP.30.2005, the Orite Firmware version: 02.08.03EN.OR01R is Last F/W update: MAR.15.2006.

The web interface looks totally different but it looks much responsive and it seems to me faster too. Both the JPEG and MJPEG urls work with the new one too.

There is at this address "IP-Cam CGI command list - Doc" - that specifies all the modes that allow to control the camera and extract data from it.

The problem with adding it to the presets is that there looks like no way to control the image size from the url so there isn't any way so specify those values in the preset entries. I will see if I can work out a non-coonfusing way around it. Thanks for your work in this though. I had a Veo Observer a few years ago and it was pants!! I'm glad to see they have improved.

Actually, I have some other dimensioness settings in there so I have added it. The path is identical to the Gadsports by the way.

Actually there is something, I found it in the documentation atr the link above. I posted the most common things in the WiKi, but the full documentation has even more.

Did you add the MJPEG path too? Watch out, this model requires /GetData.cgi?Status=true, while Gadsports seem to need only GetData.cgi. Without the Status parameter, my ZM wasn't able to decode the stream.

Another good word for this IP camera model, it has standard M12x0.5 thread for the lens. That makes it compatible with various types of camera lens, like these on Ebay:Image

I changed the default lens that came with it to a wider angle lens with better light factor and results are even better for the location I chose.
