Bizarre problem involving a refusal to write images/events

Folks, After much wailing and gnashing of teeth, I gave up on compiling my own setup and switched to the Bluecherry Livecd 2.0 beta. This is an XUbuntu-based livecd with ZM 1.24. Everything is working a hell of a lot better - I can see video from the cameras at least. But it's refusing to write any ...

Sigh...no video, logs included, xawtv does work now. Huh?

I now know that somehow the NVidia proprietary drivers were killing off video access - xawtv wouldn't run. I'm now on the VESA driver, xawtv works, I can live with 800x600, time to move on. I'm on Ubuntu Intrepid. I've done these directions to the letter: http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.php/Ubu...

Somehow, installing ZM1.24.1 broke XAWTV?!

I've been fighting to get ZM working. I installed a fresh Ubuntu Intrepid (8.10) 32bit and then followed these instructions: http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.php/Ubuntu_8.10_Vanilla_32bit_(with_FFmpeg_SVN%2C_ZoneMinder_SVN%2C_jscalendar-1.0%2C_cambozola-0.7) Early on, I made sure xawtv worked wi...

After mucho strain and agony I think I have FFMPeg fully sorted out, and ZM compiled with it. Still no joy but the camera "source" in the console has gone from red to green for the first time, and the Apache error log is showing a brand spankin' new issue...so it looks like we're closing i...

Damn...switching to "jpeg" from "mpeg" didn't help any. It's still giving the same errors in the apache log telling me I need to recompile with FFMpeg successfully. SIGH. OK, so two questions: 1) Assuming I've got a valid ffmpeg compile in the wrong place but otherwise correct, w...

THANK YOU, now we're getting somewhere! I got the disk access thing fixed, didn't realize it wasn't auto-mounting yet. Under the "Options" screen and "images" tab, I've got choices for "STREAM_METHOD" of mpeg or jpeg, with mpeg checked. Further down at "PATH_FFMPEG...

Somebody mentioned checking the "apache error log" with no info as to how to find it or what to check. Does that sound right, and can somebody provide more detail?

Folks, I'm really dying here. I appear to have ZM 1.24.1 running. I have a single BT878 board in and one camera plugged into /dev/video0 and I think the first (0?) port. The camera is a Swann small security camera. I'm in the US, the camera is marked -US in a sticker so it should be NTSC. According ...

Man, I'm trying all kinds of different resolutions, PAL/NTSC, V4L1/2...can't get a camera image when I click on the camera name. The words "record" (under "function") and the devicename (under "source") are both green. They were red at first. Errrr...as they say in Mari...

Almost there! Here's my situation: I had ZM running out the Ubuntu repos (Hardy) but I couldn't mesh it with Mythzoneminder (mismatched version support even within the same repo - silly Ubuntu package maintainer!). System involved a pair of BT878 cards with three ports each so I had /dev/video0 (cha...

Is there a REAL install guide anywhere for MythZoneMinder!?!

The instructions on the MythTV site were written by a nutcase. Example: --- Then compile and install the plugins in the normal way. --- Oh for... The general notes on compiling stuff at ubuntuguide don't work on this stuff. There's apparantly a "standard mythtv compile method" of some sort...
