FYI: Don't know if 'exit status 6' really indicates this problem, but I think I found and solved the problem. I turned on the debug log and set it to level 9. In the dir do 'ls -l' this gives full info.

If you navigate to this dir using the command line interface does it exist? If so, what are its permissions?

I had the same problem with the jumping using the same card. Try this:

Options->Config->ZM_CAPTURES_PER_FRAME set to anything higher than 1

I've got a new Zoneminder installation (1.23.2) running on a new PC using Ubuntu 7.10 server. And all is working fine.... almost.
