I recommend running the pi without the gui when you install Zoneminder. The pi 3 has a gig of ram of which 500 meg is used by tmpfs. The full gui version of Rasperian eats that up quickly. Now when i do

mysql -uroot -p < /usr/share/zoneminder/db/zm_create.sql

it asks password and no matter what i put there, raspberry password or return or password created during mysql_secure_installation, i always get empty row. Cursor just goes to start of next row.

When i do

apt install zoneminder

i get error:

E: Unable to locate package zoneminder

Now that Raspbian is Debian “buster” based, could you give for newbies installaton instructions. Thanks

Let say i want to have little too much cameras with motion detection in Raspberry 3 so it makes framerate low.

Which one of these gives me better performance:

ZoneMinder
motionEyeOS
motionEye

Also are there any other serious ZoneMinder type of apps?

Anybody recently tested different SBCs with ZoneMinder?

I would like to know which boards would be good for handling multiple cameras with motion detection etc. What i heard is that Raspberry 3 can't handle many cameras with decent frame rate etc.
