Re: Time dependent zones

Did you try one or more Preclusive zones located where the vehicles lights would illuminate them, but not where interesting movement would trigger them? They can be really small, so don't take much in the way of resources.

Re: RSTP connection issues

You should also show the other tabs. It helps people know exactly what you have. Some of this stuff interacts.

For Source Type try Ffmpeg and for Method use TCP.

I am looking at v1.33.14, so the terminology may be slightly different on your version.

Re: Fresh install on Debain 9 - Dont know what I'm doing wrong.

Do a fresh install of Debian 10, then install ZM 1.33 following these instructions:

https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Debian_10_B ... pro_Master

While I did have ZM 1.32 sort of working, it was really unusable. ZM 1.33 is much, much better.

Re: RSTP connection issues

Maybe try 32 bit colorspace too. Seems to me that made a big difference when I was running 1.30.

I have no idea why, but maybe you can sell copies at the next art fair. I've seen a lot worse hanging on gallery walls.

Re: Please help me understand the appeal

FWIW, I am currently running 6 1920x1080 ip cameras on an older Shuttle DS-81 system much like the one linked here with no strain whatsoever. I usually run them at 5 fps but have had them at 10 fps without issues. It's dark out at the moment, so that helps keep the requirements down, but the system ...

Re: Problems upgrading 1.30.4 to 1.32.3 on Debian Stretch (apt sticks to old version)

2:1.30.4-dmo1+deb9u2 appears to be actually installed. I did not realize that was the case. If so, try purging it, then cleaning the cache and reloading again.

Code: Select all

apt-get purge zoneminder
Also, take a look in all the directories under /etc/apt/ and make sure deb-multimedia is not in there anywhere.

Re: Problems upgrading 1.30.4 to 1.32.3 on Debian Stretch (apt sticks to old version)

2:1.30.4-dmo1+deb9u2 is from Debian Multimedia (deb-multimedia). It violates the naming conventions by having an epoch value of 2 which overrides the other zoneminder packages Make sure you don't have deb-multimedia anywhere in sources.list, then clear your package cache and reload. $ sudo apt-get c...

Browser Shows Blank Page When Deleting Event(s) Using Checkbox

v1.33.14 on a fresh Debian 10 updated to Sid. Just tried deleting events using the checkbox then selecting Delete. My browser shows a blank page every time and no events are actually deleted. The same thing happens with Palemoon, Firefox, and Epiphany. It doesn't matter if it is one event or all eve...

Re: possibility of making a light sensor to put in the mailbox that will make an alarm?

Succeess! I was able to implement a monitor just for the mailbox. It triggers on a vehicle (or person) that stops by the mailbox for 3-1/2 seconds or longer. To accomplish this I did the following: I Created an additional (second) monitor for an existing camera whose view included the mail...

Re: possibility of making a light sensor to put in the mailbox that will make an alarm?

That's actually pretty easy. You should be able to find several designs for that sort of thing on one or more of the numerous electronics hobbyist websites. However, I think it might be easier to set up a special zone in ZoneMinder. Just set up a small zone that would trigger on someone or something...

Re: Basic camera/zm settings (I read all the FAQ's)

VBR usually = Variable Bit Rate. The bit rate varies depending on the amount of data in the stream at any give time. The cameras usually offer fixed bit rates as well. You can try those and see if they make any difference. To get rid of the bugs at night I had to disable the IR LEDs on the cameras a...

You could try setting the Source Type to Libvlc. It would be interesting to know if that worked and Ffmpeg didn't.

Re: Zoneminder in Debian 10

felixr, How did you actually install Zoneminder on Debian 10 via the SID reop, multimedia one? ZoneMinder 1.32.3 in Debian Sid is installed by following bbunge's excellent instructions here . These have been updated recently. If you followed these before the update, it will probably be worth your w...
