Re: wireless megapixel IP camera: Foscam FI9805W: Low FPS

I found out that this camera has two commands: One to take a snapshot and one to get streaming video either in H.264 or MJPEG mode. I have zoneminder set up to take a snapshot every other second, because that's the maximum I seem to get reliably. I use this command: /cgi-bin/CGIProxy.fcgi?cmd=snapPi...

Re: Foscam FI8903W IR camera: can't stop recording

great! many thanks.. Yes; unfortunately I spent a lot of time yesterday trying to speed up the camera.. even disabled encryption on the Access point. It seems the only thing that works is the "snapshot" command with these cameras.. I'll keep digging to see if I can get streaming going.. th...

Re: Foscam FI8903W IR camera: can't stop recording

With a different camera (Foscam FI9805W) I have the opposite issue now -- it won't record :) I'm in modect mode, it's enabled, and it has two zones that cover almost the entire image in Best - High Sensitivity mode. I can preview the image and even see trees swaying in the wind.. I can force the ala...

wireless megapixel IP camera: Foscam FI9805W: Low FPS

It seems whenever the FPS of this camera exceeds 1, I get a blue screen.
Is that to be expected? Shouldn't it be better?

Re: Foscam longevity

Thanks for your reply, it makes a lot of sense.

I'm aware that the pan/tilt mechanism is the achilles heel for all video cams. If I were to get a motorized camera, I'd go with Axis and Sony myself.

Re: Foscam cameras trying to contact linode?

Thanks for letting us know, I enabled "parential controls" of my modem and blocked the camera from going to the internet.. Ah, child cameras! -t

PS: I'd get a new firmware if I were you..

Re: IP Camera over the internet excessive usage

It seems cameras have two methods, stream and snapshot. you may wish to try the snapshot, and limit the FPS and Alarm FPS.. see if that helps.. -t

Foscam longevity

hi there.. I just got a foscam FI8903W, installed it away from rain and elements. I'd like to buy a few more of these to cover all around the house, but I was wondering if anyone has long term data (couple of years) on their longevity. Or should I be looking for some better cameras? Many thanks, -t

Re: N00b needs advice on cameras and equipment.

I'd go with wifi cameras. much easier to wire up :) I only have 1 camera, a foscam.
I just installed it, no idea of its longevity.. try to install them where they won't get
wet.. -t

motion sensor lights turning off and generating event

hi there.. right in the path of the camera, there is a motion-sensor light which turns on and off. Turning on is no problem, I'm glad for it, the camera does a better job. But I also get an event when the light turns off a few minutes later, which is unnecessary. I was not able to find how to exclud...

Re: adjust remote camera ip brightness?

I have a related question - mine is an IP camera. During daytime the exposure is great, but when it's IR-illuminated, the picture is much darker. Any way to convince the camera or ZM to up the brightness at night?
Thanks! -t

I know, the sad part is that some years back I had ZM running, and I already must have flushed those memory cells with alcohol. sad. sad..

Many thanks for your assistance, -t
