Re: RPi 4/Reolink Capture problems

Zoneminder on Buster with Pi4 is problematic. I have not been able to get a good performing ZM system on Buster 32 bit.

However, Ubuntu 20.04 server on Pi4, 32 or 64 bit runs Zoneminder very well!

Better instructions: https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Debian_11_Bullseye_with_Zoneminder_1.36.x The readthedocs instructions are usually behind the times. Last I checked there were no ZM 1.36.x installs for Bullseye. Also the version of MySQL likely has some security features that get turned on by defaul...

Re: ZM1.32 Fails to Upgrade from Debian 10 Repository

hmmm I believe there is no buster arm package beyond 1.34.22... Any suggestions on how to install 1.34.latest by building it for my pi? Well, you could install Zoneminder 1.36.x A better option is to install Ubuntu on the Pi then install Zoneminder. Works much better. If you have a Pi4 use the 64 b...

Re: Network and remote install

Another option is to have a Zoneminder server off site which connects to cams that are port forwarded through the hotel firewall. I have done this in a pinch when a clients Zoneminder server tanked and I set up a server at home to capture events but not continuous stream capture. The resolution and ...

Re: 1.36.7 no montage

I set up a fresh Ubuntu 20.04 server yesterday with ZM 1.36.7. Montage works here but I had to set AUTH_RELAY to Plain on prior test setups. Hashed seems to work now.

Sorry for the confusion with all the install instructions out there.

This on on the WIKI does work and is pretty simple:

https://itsfoss.com/how-to-remove-or-delete-ppas-quick-tip/ This is what I had followed to remove the master PPA. The WIKI is up to date with install instructions for Ubuntu and Debian: https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Helpful_user_contributed_resources This is what I followed to add the 1.36 PPA, but w...

Re: What hardware do I need for ZoneMinder1.36.x ?

A Pi4 8 GB might run your four cams at a low resolution and frame rate. An older PC, maybe an i3, would do better. One with an SSD even better! I use an i3 with an SSD for the root drive and a 1 TB laptop 5400 RPM drive for storage. Works very well for my small system. As for uploading the events to...

Re: Zoneminder 1.36 not functional

Hello, I have been a Linux consultant for 36 years, and have installed Ubuntu Server many times, disabling cloud-init. The installation is correct following the procedures mentioned in the Zoneminder wiki, I don't think it is necessary to repeat the steps since zoneminder is running correctly. As I...

You might try again with Mariadb. Don't second guess the install procedures in the WIKI. They do work.

Re: Record "in the past"

Buffers is the key to what you want to do. All depends upon how much memory you want the buffers to use up. The setting is Pre Event Image Count in Buffers. I have mine set for 30 which at a camera frame rate of 10 FPS gives me 3 seconds of recording before an event is shown. I also use 10 Post Even...
