There are also cheap VGA to composite adapters that will not care what OS you have. Many are limited to 1024x768 screens, and they still only show TV res, so text is not readable.

Wonderful! Please shoot me an e-mail (I am doing the same) with contact info. We have standardized on Ubuntu (We sell mostly managed desktops. This server thing is new ground!) but I can have a system up quite quick. And I will see about sending a card as well. We want a solution fast, as the existi...

I have never seen a sub-mini (hidden) IP based cam. You may want to look at a supported USB or PCMCIA single port capture card for that.

The ironic thing is that it was kind-of directed at you. :) Thanks!

It had to do with sending a GV-800 (Geovision) 16 port capture card to "Someone" with the project to help with support with that card. The question was who should be that "someone." I am an avid supporter of open source. I am active with m0n0wall, Ubuntu, Aimsniff, and hopefully ...

Missing post

I made a hardware related post 2 days ago at about this time. It vanished with no other information. Did I break a rule or get caught in the spam trap?

How to get new hardware support

In another less formal thread, I mentioned my troubles with a GV-800 (Geovision) card. Some interest was expressed in supporting it. I actually have a spare, and (after conferring with my partner) I am willing to loan it (possably donate it, but we have to see how well the project fits our needs fir...

GV-800 is Geovision. They are bt878 cards, but the init is different for all cards. If I run the MS Windows app to init the card, and warm boot to Linux, it will capture. Cold boot is all blue screen. I have some spare hardware, so if someone is willing, I can loanit out. So, Cordel, do you like a c...

This is just a 'Hi, how are ya" post. I have not done enough to get to the "intelligent question" point yet. :) The GV-800 was just a shot in the dark for anyone with experience with them. I can read from them, but not init. That means if I boot Windows and init the card, then warm bo...

The new guy...

A hello-how-are-ya post. :) I work with a company that sells DVR service (among other things) and DVR is the last non-FOSS product we have. I am active in both m0n0wall, and Ubuntu projects, and actually heard about this from someone on the m0n0wall list. I would Love to dump the last Windows depend...
