Grrrr, I meant 352x288 in that last post.

It is a size called CIF which approximates to the quality of resolution from a VHS VCR.

Rob, how would i change the settings for zm -- frame lines looks a little suspect Ehh? What do you mean by frame lines? Do you mean width and height values? The 1024x768 is actually all right. It is the 360x240 value that is the important one. It is better as I suggested in an earlier post to try 35...

Rob, Sorry should have got you to check the logs before. The output of v4l-conf is reporting sizes for the screen output device and not the inputs. Use the v4l-info command to get info on the inputs. You should an information line starting with: ### video4linux device info [/dev/video0] ### The attr...

Rob, Can I confirm you are working with only one /dev/video device (/dev/video0). Please indicate how many cameras you've got defined in zoneminder and the size of theimages plus the maximum frame rates. Did you start working with only one? Always a good idea. Reduce the image size and maximum frame...

Stuart, Time to start knocking this thread into shape. The title for this thread is not what it is about any longer so you could take some of the information from about your post on 12 October on and post it in a new thread. Suggested title is "Parts from old frames appearing while getting sync...

Rob,

Check your value for /proc/sys/kernel/shmall because maybe that needs to be increased as well.

Thanks James But looking back at that post my advice about only trying one card=102 at first is baloney because of course the bttv driver is going to try and autodetect all the other 878A devices it finds anyway so it is a very bad idea  and instead it is fine to put in all the card definition...

Stuart, When you have this is the rest of the picture still "live". In other words can you see people walking at the end of your driveway and so on. I'm asking has the picture frozen in this bad state really. As to the picture looking washed out, are you using a camera with IR vision for s...

Jason, You were getting most success with card type 77 but it wasn't working over 4fps. Well card type 77 is for a four input card and by doing what you are doing you are saying that each 878A device is using it's four inputs. I believe that this board is just 8 inputs and dedicates each input to th...

Note that the location where the CVS V4L code is no longer maintained. Kraxel (Gerd Knorr) is no longer the official maintainer of bttv code and he has passed the code onto this site: http://cvs.linuxtv.org/cvs.php where there are instructions on how to download the latest code. It's possible that t...

Stefano, Please use phpmyadmin to check: 1. That your zm database is there. 2. That the config table in the zm database is there and that it is populated. 3. The the database users that need to be created have been created. Point 3 is where you are most likely to have a problem. You'll need to creat...

Re: SuSe 8.2

I've got ZoneMinder working with SuSE 8.2 now. In fact I've got it working on two boxes. I found with the installation on the second box that following the installation steps more closely there was no need to do the complicated setting up of an admin user outlined in step 3 above. The problems that ...

Re: SuSe 8.2

Hi Mario, I'm trying to get ZoneMinder to work at the moment on SuSE 8.2. I have not got it completely working yet because I have problems with getting zmc and zma to not give errors and crash. Errors are reported in the system log on the results from these programs and using this information and th...
