Re: Traffic: Routers, Switches, Wireless Access, IP Cameras
Note that the wireless router has both wired and wireless devices connected.

Traffic: Routers, Switches, Wireless Access, IP Cameras
I am converting my 5 camera analog system to IP cameras. My issue resolves around managing my non zoneminder traffic with the zoneminder traffic in the network so performance is not dimished for the non zoneminder traffic. I am all wired for the IP cameras (originally I used cat5 cable with frequenc...

Low Priced Network Cameras (e.g., IPS
IPSCAM.COM cameras are available at low cost on ebay. Example includes IPS-EO1322 (~$100), a 720p dome camera claiming compliance to H.264, Onvif, and claiming that it is a POE camera. Another is their IPS-EA1824 (~$125), a 1080p dome with similar compliance. I was referred to this webpage for discu...

Onvif IP Compliant Camera Supported?
Does zoneminder support cameras compliant to Onvif? I have found some cheapeer (<$100) IP cameras that claim compliance to this standard. I see on the zoneminder facebook page that there is discussion of implementing support for this standard. Whether it was ultimately supported is not discussed. Thx!

Capture License Plate Info
I want to capture images of license plate of vehicles driving by. I have traffic going by at under 25 mph in a residential neighborhood. Will I be able to capture license plate info with an analog camera? License plates are always on the rear of the vehicles so I am not concerned with dealing with r...

Re: SAA7130HL or BT878-based 8-channel "realtime" card
Hi, I'm looking for an 8-channel realtime analog capture card for ZoneMinder. There are lots of BT878 and some SAA7130HL -based cards on ebay. So I need a bit of help to decide what chip 'platform' should I prefer? Isn't the SAA7130HL better in image quality? What about the kernel module "stab...

Video Balums (BNC to RJ-45) for Analog PTZ Camera
I wired my analog cameras with an eye toward the future when I will upgrade to network cameras. I used cat5 (ethernet) cabling in conjunction with RJ-45 Video Baluns. For analog cameras, the Balums place place the video signal and power onto and off of the cat5 cable. I believe the baluns use 6 of t...

Logging User Activity
I was poking around in the zoneminder logs and found it surprising that the logs don't contain information about user activity such as login attempts, duration of login, changes made to settings, etc. At least some of this activity (e.g., userid, time of login or attempted login) should be logged by...

Re: [SOLVED] How to create a motion detect zone in ZM?
For future reference, I am curious how one would discover the solution to this on their own. I am guessing that some sort of php trace function can be activated that displays the code that is executing or something other. How would one activate the trace function (i.e., where is it activated) assumi...

Disk management
I am looking for techniques to manage disk space other than brute percentage across the cameras.
I'd like to do something like:
Camera A always recording can only utilize say 10% of the disk.
Camera B,C are motion detect, so allow up to say 12% of the disk.

Iphone: eyezm install script defective
The p2fs3 installation script ("sudo ./install") that runs on zoneminder server aborts based on an incorrect test to decide if ffmpeg is mpeg-4 capable. Delete out the offending code and iphone works fine (on at least ubuntu 10.4 plus). Follow the website directions and you waste your time...

Re: 64-bit issues - Montage / Zones
Where is the proper place to report this? Does it go to ubuntu - who I would assume play a role in configuration of zoneminder - or is it a zoneminder issue. I'll poke around the source and mysql databases to see if something is obvious. I was thinking perhaps some run once script that sets up the m...

Renamed Ubuntu 11.04 was Re:: 64-bit issues - Montage / Zone
It would appear to be an ubuntu 11.04 issue.
The behavior is the same on both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of the OS.
In both these, synaptic installs zoneminder 1.24.2.

64-bit issues - Montage / Zones
On 64-bit ubuntu I get the following issues: a) Montage does not recognize selecting grids other than a width of one. (So for example you can't view 2 cameras across). b) When creating/editting zones, the coor1dinates of the zone are not displayed. Hence, the +/- function that allows one to make var...
