I need to buy two outside camera's that can still work below -10c and was wondering about the Axis P1343 in a heated housing but at a cost of £600 a pop there must be a cheaper solution ? I guess I need the heater but … the camera ? What do people think ? I do need an IP based camera or a wireles...

Re: 8Ch Good Card Based in UK or good delivery
Zoneminder does not support audio Oh isn't that a feature it possibly should have ? It's not possible without a *huge* rewrite of the code, so don't expect it (ever). So you would recommend BlueCheery …? But that is not free is it ? Also I want to run my own scripts on data such as automatically ...

It depends on a lot of things. I was looking to build a 2 camera DVR system and it was going to cost at least $400 because of my camera choices. I could have a bought a cheap 4 camera DVR for under $300, but I doubt it would do the obscure things I want it to. On top of that I would much rather bui...

Hi,
I am going to build Zone Minder but wondered if the specification of Zoneminder is really better than a hardware based DVR.
What price would you have to pay to get the features you get in Zoneminder, do people here think ?

5 cameras all running motion-detect may be a lot for the system, but if you are doing straight monitoring, it will be no problem. Can't comment on audio playing into it either. Also depends on the camera res. I have run 6 cameras with similar specs, but they weren't terribly high res (640x480). nop...

Looks good, but it's just the motherboard... two of the key things, RAM and CPU, you didn't spec :) ZM will tax the CPU+RAM and they will be the bottleneck over Ethernet+Disk, so those are the two you will want to maximize. It also depends what kind of setup you will run though. How many cameras an...
