IS it possible it is a heat issuse? Meaning do you have heat syncs on the chips?

Quick way to test is to shut off the system for a few hours then turn it on. See if lines are there, if not check back later see if they come back.

i think you problem is going to be that these cards use the bttv cvhips whitch run at 5 volts so it is going to be hard to find a 3.3 volt card. My guss is you need to find one with a molex connector. I remember haveing one a while back it was sold under the brand "security eyes". However ...

it shouldent be effected by that do this. ls /dev | grep video to see if devices exists if they do then most likely zm can not write to the event folders check logs. Also to reload the bttv driver modprobe bttv and you can see what happens after loading drivers by this comand tail -f /var/log/messages

It means your overloading you system. Most likely you have a high load. which is causing it to capture at a lower rate. Try tweaking the option skip frames. (it skips frames only for the motion detect). it in the camera settings

Local or you will not have the quality. If it remote and the cameras will drag down your connection for the other pcs on the network as well.

BT878 are very generic for linux works fine on almost all distros. also the pvr cards you had will work you just can not use the mpeg feed off them (video0) you have to use (video25) or something like that.

run this to check.
ls /dev | grep video

Do you have any specs on the cameras? Also if not are you able to put one on the Internet so we can see if it is compatible.

look in the zmfilter.pl its easy to control serial ports however you will have to setup filter to trigger them.

Also X10 is a glorified modem so with a little effort you might be able to just use the X10 suport. Happy Hacking:)
