Re: Servers crashing, out of memory, kills process
Hi, This is a frustrating problem and one that's difficult to trace. You can pretty much ignore the process that the oom killer culls; what program it uses is chosen according to various specs and isn't always the biggest. Re: how to activate/deactivate alarm when I leave/enter my h
Yes - a script on the server that periodically tests for the presence of your phone's IP on the lan and then controls zm using zmpkg.pl or zmtrigger.pl should work provided you never turn your phone off.

Had a quick look at zmtrigger.pl seems to be the bunny.

If I'm reading that right, setting a monitor to Monitor would allow you to generate alarm events (on and off) for specific monitors via any system call.

Re: Interfacing a home security system to ZM
Cool. Sure there's a way to address individual monitors as well - (command -m1 record|stop|modect) where m1 is the monitor number. Could be wrong, as I say, not had to do this myself.

Thanks for the update Cambot - hopefully it'll be useful to other ubuntu users. Surprised about the ffmpeg bit though, not heard of that before.

This comes up several times a month - check the forums, I answered one a week ago asking for something very similar.

Re: Interfacing a home security system to ZM
I can't lay my hands on the exact command right now, but you can change the state of monitors from the command line. zmdc.pl, zmcontrol.pl or zmtrigger.pl - one of those ought to allow you to set a monitor to record. That could then be shelled as a system command from your control program (although ...

Re: 400 Cameras in ZONEMINDER, is possible?
On one server? Unlikely. The biggest I've run is 31 on normal budget hardware. The limit is hardware of course. ZM should handle that number fine, but such things as network io, disk io, cpu and memory are not infinite. You can do the math for the first two easy enough by working out the filesize of...

Re: Hardware Suggestions for 5-8 camera deployment
One of the cheap HP servers gives good bang for buck - ml112 or ml115, both would power this number of cameras well. I'd go the ip cam route personally, but whatever floats your boat. Axis are the best but very expensive. There are 50$us ip cams that do ok, and plenty of choice in the middle. Just c...

Re: No image from Axis P1346 network camera
Hi Couple of things - ignore probe, that's for analogues (I know, it's not very clear). Use presets above, and select one of the lower resolution Axis presets to start with. Unless Axis have significantly changed the layout of their urls with this camera (I have a lot of vga and 1024x768 Axis ip cam...

I use the same on an HTC Desire, but take feeds directly from the ip cameras, not via zm.
