Re: Cannot play back events
I just set up a fresh Ubuntu 20.02 server and installed Zoneminder. I recommend using the following instructions: https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Ubuntu_Server_or_Desktop_Zoneminder_1.36.x I used to use a mini.iso of 20.04 to avoid installing extra stuff. But, that old install would not allow the instal...

Re: CPU load/performance problem on new install Ubuntu 22.04 + ZM 1.36.12
For what it's worth, I've been trying Ubuntu again and have tested 22.04 with MySQL and Mariadb. I install the minimal Ubuntu server the add nano, ntpdate and Webmin 2.0. I also removed the cloud init stuff. I have found that MySQL uses more resources (almost double the processor load) with my three...

Re: Storage Optimization
Use modect instead of record or mocord. Increase pre and post frame count and tweak the motion settings to get the desired motion capture.

Re: Question about "queue is full warnings" at 1.36.25
I think what is happening here is that his camera has a large keyframe interval. So his MaxImageBuffer probably needs to be around 500 or more. Ideally a value of 0 would work, but we find that it allows consuming all of ram. Well, ram is to be used. I agree that sometimes it needs to be limited, t...

Re: Question about "queue is full warnings" at 1.36.25
Why do you have the Maximum Image Buffer Size set so high? "0" is the default and you should go back to that as first start. Also set the Key Frame Interval at the cams to a lower value. If you use 10 FPS set the interval to 10. You should get better performance.

Re: Ubuntu upgrade to v22 LTS killed Zoneminder
Hi I just upgraded from Ubuntu 21 LTS to 22 LTS and now Zoneminder fails to start. It looks like a Zoneminder file has been deleted (full search does not find it at all) ░░ Defined-By: systemd ░░ Support: http://www.ubuntu.com/support ░░ ░░ The unit zoneminder.service has entered the 'failed' state...

Re: Cannot get ZM 1.36 to work
The Zoneminder WIKI has an install script for Ubuntu. Pretty much fool proof. Also I recommend Mariadb server.

Re: Zoneminder 1.36.17 Freezing on Third Camera
Lower the camera resolution. 720P or lower. Lower the frame rate to 10 or lower at the camera. Run mysqltuner to make adjustments to the database settings (innodb_buffer_pool_size may need to be increased).

Re: Ubuntu 22.04 and PHP8.1 -> PHP8.0
Upgrading the OS is iffy at best. The upgrade will overwrite Zoneminder with the version provided with the new OS. Therefore, I save my settings (backup the zm database is one way) and do a fresh install of the "new" distro. Saves me many hours of anguish. And I have had no issues with Ubu...

Re: Low usage RAM Ubuntu 22.04
What you need to watch is the RAM used by the database server, MySQL or Mariadb. As the number of recorded events goes up the amount of RAM used by the database will go up. Mysqltuner can be installed and run from the command prompt for recommended changes to the config file. Usually the innodb_buff...

You are running Zoneminder on a desktop install. What Linux distro and version? What hardware?
OK, it looks like Ubuntu. If you are on a RPI there is a good chance the USB cam will not work... Have been down that road many times.

Re: Zoneminder 1.36.15 + zmninja
I just checked my Android Zmninja app and it is working on Android. One suggestion is to use a smaller video resolution on ZM. 1080P at the most and even lower if you need to. There is a separate forum area for mobile apps where you may find some tips to get Zmninja working although the config is pr...

Re: 1.36.15 for Debian
Nope, the amd64 package for Zoneminder 1.36.15 is not in the repo for bullseye. The armhf package is. It may take some time for it to show up. There is nothing wrong with your apt setup. I am runnung Bullseye on my home ZM server and am also waiting for 1.36.15...
