You can create video for each event and export the event video files as one zip or tar but you will have to combine the clips after download. Several tools will do this including Windows Movie Maker.

The trick with Foscam and most other cameras is to get the resolution right. There are plenty of forum topics that discuss this and give recommendations for h264 cameras.

I updated the how to in the WIKI. Changed the way the database is installed by using a password file instead of the database password in the command line (more secure?).
Make sure you change PATH_ZMS to /zm/cgi-bin/nph-zms

There are upgrade instructions on the WIKI. With changes to the packaging I have held off on specific procedures for a stable release. However, those upgrade instructions are not exactly right as they reference the zoneminder ppa and not the master branch.

I have tried a couple of settings to restrict the monitors users can see, in the desktop version, and have not had success. Try using the ffmpeg source type in Zoneminder. You may want to upgrade to Zoneminder 1.28.1

OK, get rid of ZM again, remove the PPA and start over. make sure the zm database was dropped from MySQL and that you clean out any old directories. You should not have to change those paths. I suggest your issues may be caused by running a process & memory intensive OS in a VM. Get rid of mint and use the Ubuntu server version.

2 GIG of RAM is likely not enough. If you are running Ubuntu server it may be OK. Ubuntu, desktop and server, reserves half of the RAM for ram disk or tmpfs. You can limit the amount of RAM used for tmpfs with a fstab entry. With your virtual box you could be having some timing issues writing to /tm...
