Re: Searching for HD IR outdoor eyeball IP cameras

Late to reply, just in case anyone else needs same info.
Most of those will work with Zoneminder.
I have a bunch of Dahuas and one Grandstream
working well on Zoneminder.
Only one I am not sure of is D-Link.

Look into onvif device manager
you can usually get the H264 string from it.

Re: Zoneminder on a "stick"

For the live user name wiki says use ubuntu
If you're past that and installing, you pick it.
ubuntu with blank password worked for me.

Re: Appliance ZM : how upgrade zm 1.25 to 1.29 ?

Not sure which appliance you are using, I have one 1.28.1 appliance running on 1.28.1. I think you would be better off doing a fresh install of 1.29. I used the pre-configured ISO to install 1.29.0 on VMware and it does well. You will need to up the video memory to 128mb on the VM in ESXi before you...

This is great work

I've been playing with Zoneminder since 2006. Once I got to 1.23.3 I stayed right there. Used it for a long time, some of my friends still use it. The timeline on Zoneminder is what keeps most people I know stuck on Zoneminder. I got my first IP cam around 2007 and when H264 got popular I tried a fe...

Re: Typical Load for other users

Thanks, I do that at home but some need a little backlog. I'm going to update one of them having a problem. It has 1.28.0 32 bit. going to put 1.29.0 64 bit on it and do some of MYSQL tweaks and others. today I saw some events around 9am , the showed as real events but no image files show, and the e...

Re: Server Hardware for 20Cams 3MP and higher

Do you need redundancy ? A lot of people run RAID 0, if hard drive dies you loose your events
but to some it's not that big of deal. RAID 0 is twice as cheap .

Re: Anyone have the FLIR TCX thermal cameras?

I like that idea, you could link it to an HD cam. Any more info on it ??

450 sounds cheap for a thermo cam, last time I looked they were many times more.
I have other uses for them so I'm going to check out that model.

Re: Server Hardware for 20Cams 3MP and higher

Not cheap but you might even be looking at hardware raid 10. It's pretty fast. I had one with software RAID 10 with 7 HD cams, no problem. The install was supposed to grow to 15 cams and possibly a hardware RAID card but once he saw the coverage with HD cams he let it stay at 7 cams. If you don't do...

Re: Absolute simplest possible way to monitor IP cam.

BTW I had one guy who has 5 ZM servers at 3 different places. He bought one of those huge flat screens, 70 inches or bigger. 41 monitors total. looks great on that big TV. Using an Android TV box. Again, you can stream the cams direct to the Android. You asked about a SUPER SIMPLE ZM install. There ...

Re: Absolute simplest possible way to monitor IP cam.

i use android mini PCs for this, $45.00 to $150.00 each. II use an HDMI to DVI video cable from the Android to monitor. I have a factory the has 3 ZM servers spread around. There are 2 people who wanted a monitor with all 26 cams showing. The camera resolutions vary from 320 to 1080, and while watch...

Re: Typical Load for other users

BiloxiGeek, A bit of a hijack here below. 10 cams at 1080 and a load of 2.0 ? you got me on the motion analyze on lower resolution. That's NICE. Going to have to do a comparison test. I have a 10 cam system @ 720 and XYMON reports the average load as 5.8. This is on a Xeon E3-1260L one 4TB purple, a...
