optimal image resolution

I usually use my camera on low resolution to avoid interlacing - 384 * 288 I believe Its a 480TVL camera with sony CCD I'm starting to play about with using a higher resolution and removing the interlacing using image processing afterwards, which will hopefully give me better quality images on the c...

Hasn't wireless storage come down in price quite a bit now? I have a collegue who has a wireless storage system in his loft out of the way, which you could use for this sort of thing. Otherwise, you and a friend giving a few gig of storage to each other would seem a sensible idea. Dont you get an em...

Sorry, just reread and I'm not sure if you are sending, recieving or both with gmail.
I send mails with my ISP's account to a gmail account and that seems to work.

Strangely I use gmail without any problems.
I'm amazed myself it hasn't been locked (unless it has in the last couple of weeks)
Have no idea why yours would be different.

The problem with ffmpeg is it changes so much. COuld you both post which version you checked out for others in the future. Otherwise a helpful post which I'll probably need in a couple of weeks - thanks.

Any idea how far off a formal release we are? I'm looking to rebuld my server in the near future and didn't know if it was worth waiting for the formal release.

Thanks guys. Tim, Does gimp do this succesfully or does it still not look great? Does it take a while or is it quick? If gimp can do it quickly I wonder if there is a command line tool that could be used to run through the events directory after an event, or whetehr the CPU usage would be too much. ...

interlacing - any new thoughts

I'd love to run my camera at 640*480 but cannot due to the interlacing I get through my 4 port 848 card. I've seen various thoughts and ideas discussed over the years over how it could be solved and I've had another search through the forums to see if there is any more up to date info, but there doe...

Hope I'm not stating the obvious, but have you checked the "run filter in background' checkbox on the save screen?

And selected the action you want it to do in your filter of course. I suspect you missed the background filter box.

If not, see if there is anything in your log file I suppose.

su -c "/usr/local/bin/zmfilter.pl" apache may work - cant remember the exact syntax, and not sure if you can log in to apache user. If not you could try running as root, but beware any log files would be created as root so you would have to remove them before trying to run it through zm ag...

Good work. Any chance of a howto assuming you kept notes on exact syntax you used i.e. svn configure options, zm configure options, prereqs. There have been a few in the past but there always seemed to be stuff that wouldn't work.

Would be good to have a more recent guide.

Cheers
